David Hunter is an attorney, pilot, test pilot, graduate engineer, and former naval officer with more than twenty five years experience litigating, mediating, arbitrating and trying complex aviation, intellectual property, insurance, maritime, product liability and engineering cases.

Since retiring as a shareholder with Lane Powell PC in Seattle, WA, he has established Orion ADR as an alternative dispute resolution practice focused on the mediation and arbitration of complex disputes.  As a mediator, his specialized professional, technical, intellectual property, litigation, and ADR experience and training allow him to bring “something more” to the discussion, evaluation and resolution of complex issues, well beyond the rote “shuttle diplomacy” often encountered in traditional “facilitative” mediations.

Similarly, in the arbitration context, these skills provide a sound legal and technical foundation for a more informed and deliberative evaluation and resolution of complex technical and legal issues.  He has taken the ABA Dispute Resolution Section’s Comprehensive Training in Commercial Arbitration, as well as its Arbitrating the Mega-Case course.  He has also taken construction arbitration training from Construction Dispute Resolution Services and international arbitration training from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  He has passed the educational, training, written examination and peer interview requirements for Fellow (FCIArb) status in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London.
